Something Lingering

I had to take two looks at this before I realized what was going on here. My initial thoughts about this was a large body of water with a very big wave, but after glancing again I saw it is a fast moving river and the stranger is actually far above the river. So, onto the critique - first of all you captured this in such a way that it looks as if the water is going to come tumbling down on the lady with the umbrella. But it's a bit twisted in a sense, that perhaps the lady believes the umbrella will keep her dry. (I had thought it was planned out till I saw the word "stranger".

Your use of color here is very melancholic, somewhat depressing but mysterious at the same time. And the fact that you centered your subject (even though we can clearly tell that it is the swarming waters behind her that really are the subject) throws it all off.

So, great job on the composition, colors and detail. Have you tried this in a black and white yet? I think it might be quite intense that way.
